James D. Lucas Jr. Company
James D. Lucas Company was founded in 1909 by James D. Lucas in Charleston, South Carolina. Since then, the company has been passed down through four generations of marine surveyors and is currently the longest running surveying business in the area.
Since the company was founded, the business has continued to grow into the company that it is today.
All surveyors are certified for any job they may be asked to complete, and have all passed the extensive training program that the Lucas company has created - one we believe to be of the highest standards.

James D. Lucas has more than forty years of extensive experience in surveying and investigating all types of cargo losses. James is the principal surveyor, accredited to the highest standard in his field.
Mr. Lucas is also an Associate Member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute (SEALI) and the American Boat and Yachts Council (ABYC).
In addition, Mr. Lucas is the Honorary Consul of Norway for North and South Carolina. He was knighted by King Olav of Norway in 1988. This appointment has been handed down for several generations of the Lucas family since 1909.
Lloyds of London Appointment
James D. Lucas Company, has held the Lloyd's appointment and been the principal surveyors in Charleston since the early part of the century.
